ZoHo-Ho and a bottle of...Heineken !!

I have finally arrived in Holland, (after a short holiday in Vanuatu, wonderful, but no photos of that holiday as I went incognito...)
Just had a look at Zoho and Google Docs. If somebody is going to ask me ONE MORE TIME "what is your log in/password?,I am going to QUACK!!
Picasa, picture sharing, spreadsheets and calendars....It sounds all great, but I think I am going to put an ad in the paper for a new manager, wouldn't that be much easier. A manager knows my name, and would not ask everyday what my password is...
But of course, if you can't afford a manager (=if you are not as successful as me) you have to rely on ZoHo. (Also, Zoho is no threat to Microsoft word....
Just had some cool beer amongst the tulips, Cheers !!

My Article in the Ghana Weekly !!

I have given the Ghana Weekly an exclusive interview. Usually I don't bother too much with interviews. All they usually want to know is how my love life is...but the Ghana Weekly has been very kind to me with giving me lots of positive publicity.
I have been taking and giving workshops at the School of Performing Arts in Legon. It is all quite exciting, I taught them some Aussie songs like " Quack go the shears, boys, quack, quack, quack" and they showed me some real Ghanese songs like "Nnwonkoro" accompanied with dance and drums. It looked so good, they must be born with rhythm in their blood. No matter how I flapped my wings, I was always flapped out of beat with the dancers. Wonder how I will be Clog dancing next week in Holland !!

Drums, Bells, Songs & Wiki

After the conversation with the librarian about Libraries 2.0, I decided to get out my laptop and do some searching myself. I surfed to a couple of Wlkis and also searched the wikipedia on Ghana. I found some interesting info. I had fun changing the text to all the different languages. The Library Wikis were very interesting. What an amazing amount of work to set up a Wiki like that!!
After all this sitting in front of the screen I needed some fresh (hot) air. and I met a group of singers. They were just sitting in a group drumming and playing the bells. It sounded great. You can hear them on this link ! They promised to teach me some songs, and I can tap my big webbed feet to the rhythm: I don't need a drum...!!!

Arrived in Africa & Web2.0, Library2.0

Africa: What a fascinating continent. I have just arrived in Ghana. It is hot and dusty and I am looking forward to having a shower, but the water only trickles out of the taps in the guesthouse where I am staying. Just visited some local animals, and took some photos.
On the plane I was sitting next to....a Librarian !! Had a very interesting conversation with her about the future of Libraries.
Looking how technology is developing and the daily use of computers (internet) Ipods (podcasting) MP3 players, digital cameras and the like: society is rapidly changing. Almost everybody 30 years and under is competent in using all of the above. Study at University means downloading lectures, there is even a university where they have started podcasting lectures; often High school students don't hand in work any more: they email it to their teacher. Reference books are less and less used. I can see in the future that most of the reference books will be deleted from the library and the amount of computers will be tripled. The site: "ask a librarian" will be popular as more and more people (students) will be using it.
This is not a bad development as it is only natural, the fact is that the older generation (30 plus) will have to get used to it. By the way, fiction will always be popular in bookform, so there will still be books in the library of the future.
The Librarian I was talking to knew a lot about Library 2.0, so I am totally up to date again with these new ideas. But, time to go for a swim: a hippo has just invited me to have a splash in the water with him. Hope it is not too muddy, as I don't want to get my feathers dirty.

Surfing Singing Duckie

Well, I am just having a ball !! I am still in Hawaii, can't get enough of it: weather is perfect; surf is great!!
How do you like me surfing ?? Cool isn't it ?
In my spare time I have been surfing on my laptop. I think I would like to adopt a dog when I come back to Australia. I think something like a border Collie would be convenient as he/she could round up my brothers and sisters when necessary. A dog would also be good company for me. A labrador could go swimming with me. Or maybe a little Chihuahua to cuddle up with...Lots of possibilities.
I can now just do a quick search with Rollyo !!
Next stop: Africa. See you there !!
